Tomo is coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Indie developer Onibi has officially confirmed that its upcoming creature-collecting RPG, Tomo: Endless Blue, will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement arrives as the game continues to perform strongly on Kickstarter, surpassing its funding goals and attracting significant community interest.

While a release window has not yet been shared, the confirmation marks a major step for the project, especially as anticipation builds around Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.

Switch 2 Version Announced Amid Kickstarter Momentum

The news was revealed alongside the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, where Tomo: Endless Blue has already exceeded $170,000 in funding from more than 1,400 backers. Notably, the project reached its initial $100,000 goal in under 60 hours, highlighting strong early support.

The developer confirmed that bringing the game to Nintendo Switch 2 has been part of its broader vision, especially given the platform’s appeal to fans of creature-collecting and exploration-based titles.

The campaign still has time remaining, suggesting that additional stretch goals or features could be introduced before it concludes.

Onibi’s decision to develop a Switch 2 version was heavily influenced by player feedback. Benjamin Devienne, founder and CEO of the studio, explained that the demand for Nintendo support was present from the very beginning of the campaign.

“The community has been asking about Nintendo Switch 2 since the first days of the campaign.”

He further emphasized how the game’s core concept aligns with Nintendo’s ecosystem:

“Tomo is about setting sail to find rare creatures, bringing them home, and building a world around them. That fantasy feels very natural on Nintendo hardware.”

This statement underscores the importance of community engagement in shaping the game’s development roadmap.

What Is Tomo: Endless Blue?

Tomo: Endless Blue is an open-world creature-collecting RPG set across a vast ocean filled with mysterious islands. Players take on the role of an explorer, discovering over 150 unique creatures known as “Tomo,” each with its own traits and abilities.

Beyond capturing and collecting, the game introduces deeper mechanics such as breeding, habitat creation, and settlement building. These features allow players to shape their own world rather than simply explore a predefined one.

The title also includes cooperative elements, enabling players to explore islands with friends and tackle challenges together. This blend of sandbox gameplay and RPG progression sets it apart from more traditional entries in the genre.

A Living World With Expanding Possibilities

One of the key selling points of Tomo: Endless Blue is its “living world” design. The game is built to evolve based on player interaction, encouraging exploration, creativity, and long-term engagement.

Players will also uncover the hidden history of the Vagari, adding a narrative layer to the otherwise open-ended gameplay. This combination of storytelling and sandbox mechanics aims to deliver a more immersive experience.

The voxel-based art style further supports this vision, allowing for dynamic environments that can be shaped and customized over time.
