Sanrio is expanding its gaming presence with the launch of Hello Kitty Party Land, a new party game arriving on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026. Developed under Sanrio Games, the company’s first official in-house gaming label, the title was recently showcased during Sanrio Fes 2026 in Yokohama, giving attendees an early hands-on look at its cooperative mini-games and customizable gameplay.

Designed for one to four players, Hello Kitty Party Land combines character creation, exploration, and more than 45 co-op mini-games featuring some of Sanrio’s most recognizable characters. Pre-orders are now open in Japan for both physical and digital editions, with special retailer-exclusive bonuses also announced.

Players can create their own Sanrio-style character

One of the game’s biggest features is its extensive avatar creator. Before entering Party Land, players can customize their own character by selecting different hairstyles, eye colors, eyebrow shapes, skin tones, outfits, and other appearance options. Rather than feeling separate from the Sanrio universe, the customizable avatars are designed to naturally fit alongside iconic characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin.

After creating an avatar, players choose one of several Sanrio companions to accompany them throughout the game’s hub world. These partner characters interact with players, react to events, and even reward collectible stickers, adding personality to exploration outside the mini-games.

During Sanrio Fes 2026, attendees were able to try three of the more than 45 mini-game variations planned for the full release.

One of them, Pompompurin’s Bouncy Trampoline, challenges players to bounce across a giant trampoline while collecting falling star candies. Cooperative movement allows teammates to launch each other higher, encouraging teamwork to reach difficult targets.

Another activity, Little Twin Stars’ Twinkling Star Fishing Challenge, revolves around carefully timing fishing casts to catch moving stars drifting through the sky. While simple at first glance, the precision required makes earning high scores increasingly challenging.

The third showcased activity, Cinnamoroll’s Home Run Derby, combines rhythmic timing with arcade-style batting mechanics as players hit pitches into the sky to create colorful fireworks. Players can participate using either their own custom avatar or their favorite Sanrio character.

Pre-orders include exclusive bonuses

Sanrio has also revealed several pre-order incentives ahead of launch. The standard physical edition includes a limited-quantity Hello Kitty mini mascot holder, while purchases through Sanrio Shop and the Sanrio Online Shop include an exclusive set featuring five collectible character figures.

Although Western pricing has not yet been announced, the Japanese retail price converts to roughly $43 USD. With over 45 multiplayer mini-games, extensive customization options, and a cast of beloved Sanrio characters, Hello Kitty Party Land is shaping up to be one of Nintendo Switch’s biggest family-friendly releases this fall.
