Developer Image & Form’s intriguing RPG card-battler, SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech, is coming to Switch on April 25th.
SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech is the latest entry in a hugely varied line of Steamworld games. Having history on both Wiiu and Nintendo 3DS with tower-defense like games and platform games. The series now ventures in a new direction with RPG card-battle mechanics.
The game will still feature crazily weird steampunk robots, but the developer now mixes in fantasy elements like dragons, wizards, knights and the like. The game will be heavily centered around story telling, as you might expect from an RPG. but the core of the action is focussed around Image & Form’s particular take on card-based battling.
In this creative roleplaying card game you’ll lead a party of aspiring heroes through a hand-drawn world and intense battles using only your wits and a handful of cards. Take on whatever threat comes your way by crafting your own deck choosing from over 100 unique punch-cards!
What awaits you is a luscious treasure chest filled with gold, dragons, vivid worlds, magic, knights in shining armor as well as XP, turn-based battles and all that good RPG stuff! The game’s humorous mix of traditional fantasy and steampunk robots makes for an unforgettable experience with lots of laughs.
Image & Form says that SteamWorld Quest will be exclusive to Switch “for the foreseeable future”, and it’ll cost £22.49/$24.99 USD when it launches on April 25th.
