Pokémon Sword and Shield, all the new details, Pokémon and release date

The Pokémon Direct happened today and we got a bunch of new info on the Pokémon Sword & Shield. The most interesting thing to hear was its release date of November 15 together with a bundle package. See below for all the new features and Pokémon

Official new trailer

Dynamax Phenomenom

Specific locations of the new Galar region allow for your Pokémon to become gigantic. This happens during battle; you can opt to transform your Pokémon in this way once during each battle, with its strength and power seeing a significant increase for three turns. This is quite an interesting new strategic combat way. It doesn’t change your Pokémon drastically, but Game Freak chose this to let every Pokémon have a Dynamax form.

You’ll need a ‘Dynamax Band’ item to trigger the transformation, and doing so will turn your Pokémon’s moves into special ‘Max Moves’. These are immensely powerful and can trigger additional, stat-changing effects. These transformations were shown to take place during Gym Battles, so you’ll want to learn how to use them to your advantage.

A new area called ‘The Wild Area’

The Galar Region will host a vast expanse of land called ‘The Wild Area’. This region of land is full of all types of area’s that feature a hefty amount of wild pokémon. The variety in which the pokemon appear is much larger then any other place in the region and they also differ in what type of weather or what time of the day you roam there.

This Wild Area also lets you rotate the camera at wil, also a new feature for the franchise in general. This way the game almost feels entirely like the long awaited fully 3D game that we hoped would arrive.

Max Raid Battles

Borrowing a feature from Pokémon GO. Sword and Shield wil introduce new battles called Max Raid Battles that will be co-op battles for up to 4 players. Together you take on a wild Dynamax Pokémon (in other words, a huge one).

Trainers will then get a chance to catch the wild Dynamax Pokémon if they manage to defeat it, but it can’t be defeated easily; wild Dynamax Pokémon remain in their giant form for the entire battle and have other unique powers. To combat this, one of the four trainers can Dynamax their own Pokémon.

A press release tells us that some Pokémon can only be caught through Max Raid Battles, so you’ll definitely want to give them a go. If you can’t join other players online, support trainers will automatically be added to your team.

New Pokémon and Legendaries

Kicking things off with those Legendaries, we have Zacian and Zamazenta. As you can see, these huge, wolf-like beings represent both a sword and shield – unsurprising given the titles of the games. The Direct hinted that these two characters will have key roles in the games’ plot.

Next to the Legendaries, 4 new Pokémon and 1 evolution were also revealed, they are as follows.

Category: Flowering Pokémon

Gossifleur prefers land with clear water and air. Its pollen has a healing effect and is commonly used as a folk medicine remedy and made into a tea given to children in the Galar region when they are ill. Gossifleur travels over long distances by getting blown along by the wind. It controls the direction of its travels by twisting its body and petals.

The white fur that covers Wooloo’s body grows throughout its life and will fully grow back in three months even if it has been completely shorn. The fur is used for clothing, carpets, and other goods and is very popular as a specialty product of the Galar region. Wooloo live as a herd and mimic the actions of their Trainer or herd leader. They dislike conflict, and if they need to escape from enemies, they will simply roll away.

It is said that Corviknight is the strongest Pokémon living in the skies of the Galar region. It can often be seen fearlessly soaring through the air. Many say that any Pokémon foolish enough to challenge Corviknight are sent running with just a sharp glare and cry from this fearsome Pokémon. Because Corviknight possess superb flying skills and high intelligence, many of them work for the company called Galar Taxi and help transport people from town to town.

Drednaw is known to be extremely aggressive, so it takes a skilled Trainer to tame and handle this Pokémon. It seems that some Trainers will release Drednaw back into the wild once they discover they can’t handle it.We’ve got the adorable Sheep Pokémon Wooloo, the Bite Pokémon Drednaw, the Raven Pokémon Corviknight, and the Flowering Pokémon Gossifleur.

The evolution of Gossifleur is Eldegoss
