Nindies to watch week 19

With May coming along rather slowly when it comes to big announcements, some interesting indie games are hitting the eShop as well as a few great remakes and ports that are hitting the Switch!

Shakedown Hawaii

The game Retro City Rampage is a great open world GTA-like indie game developed by Vblank Entertainment and was met with critical acclaim. Now the developer is back and this time they are heading to Hawaii.

Welcome to Shakedown: Hawaii, Vblank Entertainment’s latest open world adventure. Build a “legitimate” corporation by completing open world missions, acquiring businesses, sabotaging competitors, “rezoning” land, and shaking down shops for protection money.

You are the CEO, and questionable subsidiaries, misleading ads, fine print, hidden service fees, and marketing spin are your tools of choice. Shakedown: Hawaii parodies big business, and the most absurd business practices that go alongside.

From the boardroom to the streets, build your corporate empire and destroy the competition.

For the King

developed by IronOak Games, For the King first launched on Steam last year and got very positive reviews. Now publisher Curve Digital is helping to bring this tabletop’ish RPG to the Nintendo Switch.

For The King is a strategic RPG that blends tabletop and roguelike elements in a challenging adventure that spans the realms. Set off on a single player experience or play cooperatively both online and locally.

OTTTD: Over The Top Tower Defense

Now this came as a nice surprise. Developer SMG Studio actually shadow dropped their tower defense / real time strategy mash-up game OTTTD on the eShop today. So if you like what you see in the gameplay footage below, it’s just a click away for you to start playing right now!

Like explosions? Love giant, flying, undead sharks? Then OTTTD is the game for you for you! Alternatively, if you’d like a strategy game that cleverly blends TD & RTS genres for a tactical challenge across an action-packed campaign then OTTTD will scratch that itch.

If you want even more glorious games to play this week, then be sure to check out the open world game Saints Row The Third from THQ Nordic as well as the frantic puzzle game Puyo Puyo Champions from SEGA!
