Agony

Now we all know that Nintendo used to be called all kinds of names when it comes to their mature games. Having little to no 18+ games, making their consoles mainly for kids. Well gone are those days! The Switch has received some amazing gore based games like Doom and Resident Evil and now we are about to venture in to hell with the horror game Agony.

Agony is a first-person survival horror game that takes place in hell. You will begin your journey as a tormented soul in the depths of hell without any memory of your past. You must strive to stay alive and solve the enigma behind the mysterious red goddess. The architect of this place of sorrow and pain, and the only entity knowing how to escape … but the story is not just what it seems. Haunted by nightmarish creatures, you will have the opportunity to possess demons and other souls to find a way out of hell.

Exploring the hostile environment and interacting with other souls tired of the infernal landscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape hell and that it will meet the mystic Red Goddess. Agony features a full story mode and an open challenge system that randomly generates levels that players can explore and survive.

The game isn’t as easy as you might think. Demons kill you instantly when they catch you, stealth is the key, hiding and holding your breath are your only escape tools. There aren’t any weapons apart from fire, but it attracts the enemy. Soul mirrors are your respawn control points and are limited in the normal mode. But if it all a little to hard on you, then you have a custom difficulty mode available that offers an infinite load of your destiny line makes the experience significantly more enjoyable and less boring.

On a visual level, the title has very clearly taken as inspiration on the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. Although the graphical ability of the switch is not at its best here for this game, the game environments are still by far the greatest asset of the title. Cut limbs, giant human hands, babies suspended by umbilical cords and private parts burned in other. The passages of the game go from the macabre to the show ultra trash and gore.

After completing the main story, there is a challenge mode with online rankings and a succub mode. It’s not an easy title at all and not a perfect game far from it. But yet the game managed to keep me despite these flaws in its tight claws. A title to advise for fans of atypical and very very gore. You’ll find a big 18+ here.

Agony is the cream of the crop when it comes to gore. It’s not an easy game and not for everyone, but oh boy is this an experience!
